A Cocoa tripod vessel with unusual open looped legs. Chiriqui culture, Panama/Costa
Rica. Ca. 800 AD. Typically these Cocoa/Chocolate pots have solid legs which at times
contain rattles. The legs on this vessel are unique and appear snake-like with the
upper portion finalized with the sacred frog. Outer bowl is black with the internal
surface area slipped in red. Decorated with roundel appliqué along its outer side.
Good amount of overall deposits and fire clouding. Repair is evident to a quarter
section of the cup. Kept in an original excavated state. A nice utilitarian piece.
Measures 6" in height.
