Mayan Jaina Style Standing Elite Warrior
Sold

Standing Elite Warrior. Jaina, Campeche. Late Classic period 600-900 AD. Made of orange colored clay. Overall buff with burnished areas. Remnants of painted red ochre and blue. Height 9.375"/23.81 cm.

A fine masterpiece. His face bears the marking of the Jester God, a symbol of the royal family. Wears an elaborate potent war costume. Flaps that drape over his shoulders with seemingly unsown sleeves. A hip cloth, loincloth, and shell noisemakers at his waist. Reconstructed from several pieces with minor restoration.
