This transitional style Valdivia - Chorrera Jaguar mortar is in Very Fine condition
and exceptionally rare. Outstanding open lapidary workmanship in an unusual attractive
green/yellow/black vein colored stone. Abstract in form - exaggerated large head
with an incised toothy open mouth. The body is also incised into quadrants. A deep
mortar depression on top and four knob feet below. A delicate tail curled into a
tight openwork spiral. Right front foot re-attached. Measures 10” in length. 2000BC-300BC.
