Phase 6-8, Valdivian Stone Lime (Cal) Receptacle (poporo) in the form of a human
effigy. Beautifully executed with sweet iconic Venus face. Laying on her back with
arms and legs poised outwards. The center opening could suggest entering of the inner
soul. Used to activate coca and other hallucinogenic drugs.
Ample mineral deposits throughout. Measures 3" in height.

During the Late Formative period, there developed a great interest and desire for
green stones in general. They were exotic in most areas and would have been sought
in exchange over long distances as it became widespread use in domestic and mortuary
contexts. The dramatic growth in popularity of green stones also occurred at about
the same time in Mesoamerica.
