A nicely made Manteño Incensario. Standing on a pedestal wearing a wide 6.75" dia.
brim hat and large earplugs. Excellent facial features. Used for burning incense
during ceremonial practices. Brown coloring shows that this piece was subjected in
a more controlled firing. Most Manteño artifacts are black in color due to it's lack
of oxygen. Intentionally broken during rituals. Re-assembled and painted over break
lines. Measures 15.5". Manabi, Ecuador 700-1550AD. Impressive piece.
